MASTER CLASS IN WRITING: THE SHORT STORY

This intensive 10-week workshop/seminar covers style, structure, pace, atmosphere and characterization in the writing of short fiction. Members receive critiques and hands-on advice from DENNIS ETCHISON and ANNA STIGEN, two experienced instructors who are ready to work with you in preparing manuscripts suitable for publication.

DENNIS ETCHISON has taught creative writing for many years and is a three-time winner of both the British Fantasy and World Fantasy Awards. His collections include The Dark Country, Red Dreams, The Blood Kiss, The Death Artist, Talking in the Dark, Fine Cuts, Got to Kill Them All and It Only Comes Out at Night & Other Stories. He is also the author of eight novels and the editor of Cutting Edge, Masters of Darkness I-III, MetaHorror, The Museum of Horrors and Lord John Ten. He has written extensively for films, television and radio, served two terms as president of the HWA and is the 2017 recipient of the Bram Stoker Award for Lifetime Achievement.

ANNA STIGEN has edited professionally over the last decade in Los Angeles. Her clients’ work continually wins literary awards and critical acclaim. After leaving the Charlotte Gusay Agency of Westwood, she become a full-time editor and creative writer instructor. She hosts the weekly Venice Writer’s Workshop.
Each weekly class meeting features a workshop conducted by Anna Stigen, followed by a seminar with Mr. Etchison and a Q&A session, with special appearances by occasional guest speakers. At the conclusion of the course, each attendee will receive a personal consultation with Mr. Etchison and a certificate of completion.

WHEN: Tuesdays, 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. June 27th through September 5th, 2017 (no class July 4th).

ENROLLMENT: $360. Class limited to ten participants. Those who sign up by June 20 will receive a 10% discount.
